I recently purchased a ops .67 marine engine from ebay. Seller stated that engine would start and fuel would come shooting out carb, then die. I suspect the drum valve is out of time but I have never worked on one of these drum valve engines before. How do i set this drum valve back into time?

This is the fun part, note the sarcasm! :)
Look through the carb and when the con rod is at BDC you should be able to see through the fully open carb. It has to be taken apart carefully and put back together the same way to get the timing right or you can hurt some parts. It will be either on or 180 off but the above will help you to get it where it needs to be.
