Took a couple of pictures last night -
This one's of an aging "yard goat" waiting to be scrapped.

Lookin' good!

Nice engines, Charlie!

Couple of questions: What the make of the goat, and does that thing still run? I like the look of some of those 0-8-0s and 0-6-0s, but have heard some dark things about the performance of the plastic ones and I am too cheap for brass.

Hi BDC!
The 0-8-0 is an Atlas, & like most of my N scale stram, it doesn't run. That's why it's on the siding at the scrap yard waiting on the torch! ;)
Here's another one that used to be a Bachman prarie (2-6-2), but it looks like someone found another use for the trailing truck!
Seriously, though, out of the half dozen, or so N scale steamers I have only one runs, & it's mediocre at best. So I decided to make use of them, & created this steam engine "graveyard" on my layout.

Charlie,
When I was modelling N-scale American, I bought some Minitrix (DB) loco's and converted other Loco bodies to fit the Minitrix chassis. These loco's are superb in running qualities. Also you can use Fleischmann chassis' and do the same.
For Diesel, Kato are brilliant with dual flywheels.
Shamus.

Hi Shamus!
Whenever I get around to modeling steam, it's going to be in HO.
BTW, that little SW9 is a Life-Like P2k, & it runs like a champ!
I timed it one night, to see how slow it would go, & I got it so it took nearly 4 min. to travel the length of the layout, & that is only 60"!
