O Lionel LW transformer question.

Quite the rookie here so I hope I make sense. I have two track switches(O22) hooked up and they work well using the track power. I decided to try the direct wire plugs so to avoid the varying power when it was run with the throttle. I put each wire from the switches on the 14v post (C) and they both operate but as I run the train and advance the throttle the power to the switched go down accordingly which doesnt seem correct. Should the 14v from the transformer remain constant even when running the train? I tried this on the 18v post and the same occurs.

Jeff: do you have the wires to the track set up properly? If you've mixed the variable and the ground, the switch power will still be variable.

It was pure guess on my part, but the terminals on Lionel's transformers always puzzled me. I've learned a bit recently.
