Not exactly an N-scale question but

it pertains to an N-scale layout. What do folks use for occupancy detection devices. I've been trying to find Lenz LB101's but there seems to be a worldwide shortage. Now I'm wondering what other alternatives there might be that some of you others know of or have used.

Thanks,
John

I use a BDL 168 from Digitrax that can detect 16 blocks. It's a single board with a connector card with all your pins.

16 for the blocks, 4 for common zones, 2 for power, 1 for ground.

Mine looks like this:

I then run a 14 gauge wire from the terminal block under the layout/block, and tap in one rails feeder to the block line. The other rail goes to the other common wire.

It's a little more work to get setup (requires soldering and more wire running), but it's a nice system.

Nolatron, thanks for the suggestion. Looks like a very nice arrangement you have there. I did read up on the BDL168, however, a friend in England was able to get me some LDT RS-8's which I think will work just fine.
