Hi guys,

just got my latest ration of film processed and thought I'd
share the results.

Picture 1

The Ocean passing Bedford on a Sunday in February. You can notice
in the distance some criminal youth who'd decided to throw things at the
train as it went past. unfortunately I didn't catch them in the act
and they were a little beyond my range.

Halifax Ocean Terminal with 7025 and 4728. I thought this
was a very interesting load, it looks like some kind of pressure
vessel.

Knocking down the old warehouse by Dominion Diving has
opened up this view of the east end switcher emerging from
the coastguard buildings in Downtown Dartmouth. unfortunately
I've only been there with film during lousy weather but I have seen
the train arrive just before sunset with wonderful light (just after
I'd used up my last frame on the roll :(

Nice shots. Should have posted that last one on the Level Crossing thread.
Pressure vessel is interesting. I have a friend who designed them and was upset that his company didn't plaster their shipments with advertising, or at least the company name. At least if you model it, you don't have to know what it is or how it works, as long as you get all 8237 rivets in the right places. ;)

Grum,

"The Ocean" is the name of the train, I assume, and "Maritimes" is a general area/location? Or just the Wharf district?

Hi Woodie,

The "Maritimes" refers to the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island on the east coast. In this case, grum's pictures are from Nova Scotia - Bedford and Halifax. And yes, VIA (Canada's passenger carrier) has named many of its long distance trains. The Ocean runs from Montreal to Halifax. See www.viarail.ca for more.

You beat me to the punch Andrew :) :)

thanks

Most of my photo's are taken in and around Halifax
(which is the three town/ cities) of Halifax, Dartmouth
and Bedford.

The Ocean, trains 14 and 15 are our way of getting to
Montreal, from there you can get to Toronto, and from
there you can take the famous "Canadian" to Vancouver.

unfortunately, there are plans to replace all of the lovely
silver stock you see with second hand british stuff. The
real downside is that were going to lost all of our dome
cars to the Canadian which is truly a crime as some of the
scenery in Nova Scotia and Northern new Brunswick and
Quebec is truly beautiful.

Yard Visit

Chris

I wish I could come along on the visit.. but alas I'm
not able to get to ONT anytime soon. As for the "light
weathering" on 4775, thats one of the better looking
locomtives we have!.. we have one where you can barely
see the zebra stripes.. its 90% primer!.

BTW, you guys have a great time on that visit!.. I expect
photographs!
