Good link, thanks! They also have sunny-white leds, which are much nicer than the warm-white ones -- less orangey and clear when they're off. I ordered a load!

A good link it is, however LED's can be purchased much cheaper on ebay from Hong Kong, eg http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=53701&item=5772637100&rd=1

this was for OZ, however a search for LED on ebay will find any available to your country. I have purchased from that seller, and found them reputable & deliver quickly.

Hi Andy,

thanks for the link! For me, living in Europe, this is a really good source for LEDs. So far it's the cheapest source of golden white LEDs I've seen - when I also include postage & packing for my calculations.
I'll give it a try for sure. My steam lokeys are crying for this type of headlight!
