I just bought a real neat book "The Central Pacific Railroad Across Nevada 1868 & 1997." The author takes pictures from the construction of the Central Pacific and repeated the shots, as near as possible 125 years or so later. Some big changes and others not so big, very interesting and well done.

The link has some excerpts from it and pictures.

It shows how much Nevada has changed in the last 130 years. I got to speak to the author, and he signed my book. He said that he would sign any book when ordered.

Enjoy,

One of my all-time favorite set of books is Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California which came in 2 volumes. I used to sit and read these in the public library ad infinitum (instead of doing my homework). I eventually found one in a used bookstore years later. A wealth of historical info on just about every early 20th century RR in Nevada (and the CA border) including the V&T.
