My first scratchbuild on my new layout

Now that all the track is layed down, I am building the first of many structures for my Iron Ridge Railroad. It's a grain terminal based on no specific prototype....and I have found a few tricks and tips to pass along while building this. The main building is built ala Robin (made of cardboard and cereal boxes), silos are wrapping paper rolls cut down and covered with cigarette aluminum foil inserts, which in fact are perfect size for N scale. Shingles were made from cut label paper, and layed over a cardstock roof, which keeps the roof straight and accepts paint without warping. The truck loading bins are made from the aluminum chamber inserts from asthma puffers. The small ones from the steroid types work the best. I have pics which will be attached to this thread later will show more of the work and ideas that I have tried. So far the main building, silos, and covered loading area is done and painted, and more will follow
