MRC extension plate

I just purchased a Mrc advanced extension plate. They give you 2 10ft. cables. I dont want to run the cable across the floor I want to route it under the table which will be alot further than 10ft.. I know they use a rj45 cable so my question is can I go to Radio Shack or another electronics store and have one made up? Will I loose respond time to the base unit if I run longer cables? yeah, couldn't i just go to radio shack and buy all the same wires and plugs for a cheaper price then to buy MRC's extentsion plate?

Just use Cat5 outlets and what ever length Ethernet cable you want - send the MRC plate back LOL
