Here is an interesting car I got photos of this weekend I thought others would like to see. It's interesting how the large wheel seems to turn the entire center of the car with the turnout track somehow.

If anyone is interested in modeling this car I have lots of photos I took of details that will help with the build.

is this common now for railroads to install prefab switches rather than build in place?

The car was mark built in 1965 so I'm sure they have been doing this for some time now. I have many more photos of anyone is interested in modeling this car. All I ask is a photo sent of the model when you're done.

I've seen photos of cars carrying sectional switches before. Those, however, seemed to only carry half of a switch per car, because the angle wasn't as close to vertical.

Or maybe I wasn't looking closely enough before. I never knew that switches were shipped in four sections. I wonder what frog number this one is?
