I'm new to the hobby and just picked up two tyco hydro racer, one for
my and one for my three year old son. I was wondering if there is
any way to mod these boats for better range or a speed boost. I've
been searching the web, but the only mods I've found close to this
have been for micro racers. Any help is appreciated.

Ok I took the boat a part and noticed a capacitor on each of the motors, accross the terminals.
    (+)---"104 capacitor"----(-)

Why would this be there? Is it just to "clean" the current or is there a more restrictive purpose?
  3. I think the CAP is there so you dont get radio interfiernce (i cant spell) but if you want to get more speed id look for a new motor?

is there any way to extend the run time for more than fifteen min. or restrict the speed my son is only three. What's the charge time like?(one hour?)

Standard charge time with the stock charger is 3 hours. My five year old uses it no problem in the pool. In a pond or a 3 year old should have plenty of space with help. Runtime depends at how long you run at full speed. A 3 year old will get more runtime then a trigger happy teenager.
