MiniTrix For A Newbie

I'm looking to start in this wonderful hobby of train modeling. I want a steam era layout and notice that Marklin/Trix/MiniTrix have some wonderful steam locos. But bad thing is most of them are German. I don't mind doing a German layout for my first layout. Just wanted some feed back on the Trix N Scale stuff. Where is a good place to buy from?

EDIT: Also does MiniTrix come in DC?

If you want to keep your options open, check out Minitrix steam engines they did for the SNCF and BNCF with black wheels. Some could be later reused to Americanize the engines.

As far as I know, MiniTrix only comes in DC. (or was this as opposed to DCC?)
