What is the general consesus as to the preferred manufacturer? I have seen the latest Mantua Classic 0-6-0 tank (very nice), and wonder if anyone could compare it to the Bachmann.

Also, what is the time frame for introduction of these tank switchers?

Lots of questions, few resources..........:eek:ops:

Otony, as near as I can tell, the P2K 0-6-0 represents switchers that were made in the 1920s but also saw lots of use in the 30s and 40s and got phased out in the early 50s

Of the two tanks the bachmann one is more nicely detailed and, having a newer mechanism, would probably run nicer out of the box.

Reading your thread in the logging line it occurs to me that you might be better off with with the bachmann one as it is a model of a short line engine and the mantua one is a yard goat, used for pushing cold engines and rolling stock around.
