lionel is recalling the cw-80

    was at train club last night, one of the members is a lionel dealer. he said there being recalled. but only some of them. has to have the right serial #.

    Any idea what the serial numbers they're looking for?

    nope, i will have to call the shop and ask. i need to know if mines one of them.

    ok, on the bottom of the transformer theres a tag, at the bottom of that tag the last line says made in china, then to the right of that is a 4 digit #. if there is a "G" infront of that # yours is ok and was made after they fixed the problem. but if there is NO G then you need to take that # to your lionel dealer and they will send that number in to see if its one that is being recalled. NOT ALL TRANSFORMERS WITHOUT THE G NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. so if you dont have the G yours still could be a good one.

    lionel will replace it for free.

    Hopefull not a over heating problem or something like that ,be carefull.

    If it is, then mine's safe.
    I accidently left mine plugged in for about 10 hours yesterday while I was at work. :oops:
    When I got home it was still on and the cooling fan was running like a wild jackrabbit but everything still worked fine this morning when I ran a few trains around the layout.
