Some of his earliest models were clearly "lifted" from other sites. His only contribution was to slap a corporate logo on it and start selling it to corporations as a promotional item. Aside from stealing designs, he did have a pretty clever business plan, I would grant him that. The idea of putting a model on a sponsors site and collecting a dime everytime one of their clients downloads it, is possibly patentable. I think it is similar to and might predate "google ads" type of revue generation. If that was what the patent covered I think it would be enforcible. But what he actually wrote up is overly broad, vague, obvious and surely in general use at the time of application.
