Just wondering if anyone had any pointers on how to scratchbuild/design a model starting with an internal frame of formers. I've thought of "slicing" my model in increments and using the cross section as a template for an internal support attached to a central keel. Any comments or suggestions on how much is needed? As well does anyone have any suggestions of software to help paint what will likely be a complex curved surface?

For pointers go to a wooden ship modeling or site for real wooden ships site and find information about lofting, how the internal frames are drawn up.
