I have an old Matua American that must have 3 or 4 coats or partal coats of paint. In places that is flaking.

I have had good luck with post war Lionel and break fluid in the past.

What about this?

Before I send off for some hi tect concoction worth more than the engine, I will just paint it black and weather it but I would like to strip and repaint with some colors.

Any suggestions?

I've had good luck with Pine Sol, but for really tough stuff Chameleon paint stripper is the best.

Hi Gil.
I use brake fluid for stripping paint.
It will work fine on your Mantua.
