huh, not many N scale folks answering.... and we've got ROOM for lotsa locos!

Lets see, here's the roster, as best I can remember...

1 Athearn 2-8-0 (ex MDC)

1 Atlas GP30
3 Atlas Dash 8 BW
1 Atlas GP38
1 Atlas MP15DC
1 Atlas 2-6-0 Mogul

3 Bachmann 2-8-0
2 Bachmann 4-8-2

1 Con Cor 2-10-2

4 Kato SD70MACs
2 Kato AC4400s
1 Kato SD70M
5 Kato PA1s
1 Kato PB1
2 Kato E8s
2 Kato 2-8-2 Mikados
2 Kato RDC

1 LifeLike 2-8-8-2
1 LifeLike 2-8-4
1 LifeLike SW1200
1 LifeLike E8

3 MDC 2-6-0
2 MDC 2-8-0

That's 42 locos. I've sold one and given one away, haven't purchased a new loco in more than a year, and have chipped exactly half of them. I have decoders for some more of the steam, but circumstances render it impractical to install at the present time.

When I first saw the poll I assumed that the great majority of modelers would have 30 or fewer just because of average space and budgets. I'm falling behind in my purchasing! :)

They're all powered? Even the six dummies? ;)
I counted 68 powered Athearns and 6 nonpowered (dummies):thumb:
But I'm also finding that some of the Athearn motors dont like to be converted to DCC:cry:
As most of them respond fine to crawling at 3/28 speed step, some wont respond to crawling till at 11/28, and then they sound so bad:curse: . So I'll end up either buying newer drives for them (they can be had for $25 on Ebay, plus shipping) or gutting them and converting to dummies. It's all dependent upon how much I like the unit and want it to be a lead, or the mood I'm in after fighting to do the wiring and end up mad.
I spent $50 for an MRC 50 yr anniversary unit, $25 for a new drive for it (new motor, hex shafts, worm gears, dcc board and lights), and $20 for an dcc decoder. So I've got $95 in this engine that isn't worth $40, but I like them. I'm trying to collect as many of them (the Athearn MRC 50yr anniversary units) as I can. Got 5/1500 so far.:D

Wow, I didnt realize I had so many. I actually counted them. I only do N Scale and Locomotives is what I buy more of (instead of rolling stock). Counting 4 Steam engines and a few B Units and three Brass locos, the grand total as of today is

eighty eight powered locomotives locomotives

I'd be inclined to agree with LoudMusic...but maybe a simple poll like this just illustrates the number of average railroaders and the accumulators (at some point you can't speak of collecting anymore...it turns into the accumulation of more 'train') :)

Oh, and I have two diesels.

I have 4.

2 Lionel 8300's
1 Marx 666
1 RMT Beep

I plan on getting another Beep soon. I also want one of the Lionel diecast switchers and a Penn Flyer. After that, I'm going to concentrate on rolling stock.

34 running, 6 dummies, three more needing the gears and drive removed to make them dummies too. Kato, InterMountain, Atlas, LifeLike, Bachmann, Athearn, and Trix. But I'm always on the hunt for another diesel at a good price:thumb: .
