HO Scale - Kato and Spectrum F40PH locos compared

    I have always wanted an HQ F40PH and was glad when KATO did them. I now have all three numbers of Amtrak Phase III version. I also have 3 numbers of the Walthers F40PH, and it would have been interesting to see that included in the comparison since IMHO, it was the best F40PH until KATO did them. Keep in mind that the Walthers and KATO do represent different phase models of the F40PH and have some subtle differences.

    Also, no company has done the pilot completely accurate based on what I have seen on the prototype. The real pilot on many of the F40PH's has a stepped out edge. That is what Spectrum does have sort off - but the flat spot is horrible.

    Thanks to the LongIslandTom, i will get a Kato instead of a Spectrum.
