I have been installing a lift bridge into my layout entrance. I will need a gap in the track 1/16 of an inch in order for it to lift correctly. Will my Loco's have trouble crossing the gap.

If you are in HO scale, that shouldn't be a problem as long as the track is absolutely straight and not leading into a curve on either side of the bridge. If you are in N scale, that gap is probably too large.

I am sure others here will enlighten us on ways to make such a gap smaller.

I have a lift up bridge with gaps that big, no problems so far.

I have a swing bridge in my doorway and what I have done on my joints is use re-railers. I also have it cut at an angle (mainly for the swing bridge function) which helps on conductivity. I have pictures on my layout page if you search for "fort dodge layout" otherwise i'll edit in the link later as i'm having issues with my connection at the airport.

Here we go. A picture of my swing bridge in the open position.
