I've been making card models for a very long time, and its nice to know I can now talk to other, similarly minded people in an era when most hobbies seem to be going ever more high tech.

My main interest is railways, obviously allied to architecture, and I do a pretty large amount of scratchbuilding, but I do like some of the better German kits. I like the old time designs which turn up on these forums too - some of them are very good indeed.

My most recent major card model project was rebuilding the Kronprinz Wilhelm paddle steamer put out by the German Maritime Museum, making it into a full-hull model with glazed windows, three dimentional railings, paddles and other details.

I'm 59, and a retired civil servant - though having three grandsons and a whole lot of other activities seems to take up as much time as being at work!

Welcome aboard, and do not feel that you are too old around here. There are a lot of us grumpy grand-pas here (It is what I say to my grandsons "Do not bug the grump when he's making models!") This site tends to favor the Sci-Fi side of the house but there are some great architectural models here. Check out http://www.ss42.com/ for more selections. Click on free paper toys in the top left column and then choose building and structures section. Do post some photos of your builds here as well, we love to see what our members can come up with. Enjoy and see you around the forums.
