TODAY'S PROGRESS!

We drive the 'golden shovel' spike:

I'm just hooking things together to see if the track fits first, then I'll put things down more permanently with the AMI roadbed, and ballast as we go.

Here is the 'golden spike' as the first three sections are fit together

The first curve!

This is the innermost tunnel curve. the Great northern hopper is one of my most unstable cars, so its a nice test for derail messups. :D

inner loop complete!

Heres where I finished fir the night after a good 90 minutes work. I started rather late in the evening.

I need to get a few 1/2 11" to continue anyway, so here's where I left off.

Its looking ok so far. I hope to get the track connected and a test-run of a loco tomorrow before starting roadbed/ballast.

grade finished

well, I'm done with the piers.

this leaves only the 'green' section of the track to go. once this is done, I'll run a train a couple times with no blocks, then pull it apart and roadbed sections.

Here's the piers!
