first coat of ungly yellow-tan paint

this paint color roughly appoximated the top layer of soil around here. Deper layers are the usual southern red clay, but the top is this sickly yellow-tan

It'll likely need another coat, maybe a third. paint was applied with a 3-inch wide cheap foam paintbrush.

thats it so far!

the paint is drying as we speak. I'll give it some touch up gluing tomorrow (that elmers spray on glue holds great after the second or third application:) and a second coat of paint tomorrow night.

The 'benchwork' really isn't. This layout will be shifting between my closet for storage and the coffee table its shown sitting on for operation. When all is done, I intend to fasten a pair of lift handles to the sides for ease in shifting it around.

REBOOT!

well, after gathering track (oh boy!) I'm off again. I'm building the very different 2-level track, only 7 turnouts this time (compared with the 22 before)

Here's a pic off all that track
