    Happy Holidays!

My son received a Lionel Starter Set for Christmas and we would like to expand on it.

Could anyone recommends a GOOD book for a newbie that could get me going???

Where looking to build a 5' x 8' layout with remote turnouts etc, possible run two trains at most, so just looking ahead at what items would be required like transformer wise etc.

    Hi Ken:
There are a lot of good books for starting up in the hobby. Go to the Kalmbach website and see what they have.

Also, check out the All Gauge Webpage. This site has a lot of layouts that will fit your size board. Plus it has a lot of good beginner info.

    Have Fun,

Peter H. Riddle's book Wiring Your Toy Train Layout (or its earlier edition, which was called Wiring Your Lionel Layout) is tops. Riddle's other books are also excellent. You'll probably want copies of your own, but check your library. Riddle's books seem to be in a lot of libraries, so you may be able to get your hands on it right away.
