German Torpedo Boat "B98", rescaled to 1:200, scratchbuild underwater hull

Hi friends,

after my trip in architecture modeling, now I´m back in the ship-sector :thumb::wave::wave::wave:

My next project is the german Torpedo Boat "B 98". Based on the HMV Kit in scale 1:250 I made a rescaling up to 1:200. Further I try to make a scratchbuild underwater hull.

First step is always to design the formers for the underwater part........

o.K. the formers aren`t 100% acurate, but hopefully the skin will fit.........

Sadly there occured some buckling, because the first layer of water thinned white glue was to moistly............perhaps it will look realistic after drying :eek:ops::eek:ops::eek:ops::eek:ops:

Most of the real ships I have seen have a lot of buckling on the sides. I saw a very small U.S. Navy Hydroplane (USS Aquila type) and I couldn't believe how warped the sides were. It was really hot that day on Long Island Sound, maybe that had something to do with it. I think the boats look more realistic with a little warping. Looks good anyway.

zathros is right ive seen alot of ships and if you look down the hull plating a large number of them the hull plates are slightly concave ive even seen this modeled on plastic kits

the hull.........

Hi folks,

some news......:thumb:

The hull...........sadly the toner coating is rather crumbly. I think I have to retouch a bit...............anyway, a chance for a little weathering .......:mrgreen:

just have a look...........

look for the shape of the hull, it looks more like a speed boat..........o.k. in rality it was one, only the objectives are different.........

superstructure

Hi folks, Hi GB,

I don`t think it`s so good work. The makro pics show a lot of inaccurate work.

The black color is hard to assemble............

Sorry guys.....

sadly I have to disappoint your (and mine) expectations............I just canceled the build.

The paper with the copy toner coating wasn`t mine.

O.K. just looking forward, there are enough interesting kits in my stock.........
