Gatorboard is a bit pricey.

    Hello all,

I've done some on-line shopping for pricing gatorboard. It would appear that you save a little money buy purchasing a large lot of gatorboard at one time. But the problem with this is one would have to buy a lot of 15 4'X8' sheets in a case for around $600.00 bucks.

I don't need to scratch build a city in HO, just a huge BOF structure, measureing 3 1/2' height X 4 1/2 ' length X 3' in width. I guess I can build this structure out of much cheaper stuff than gatorboard, something like foam board with paper backing, instead of wood backing like gatorboard.

    MasonJar It's not rocket surgery

Try signmakers or plastics companies for (poly)styrene sheets up to 4x8. Much cheaper than the hobby store WS packages.

I have a thick (3/32"?) 12"x30" discarded sign I got for free - it'll become part of the hotel I have been (slowly ;)) building.
