Can anyone help me with dimensional data on a Gallows turntable? I'm building the superstructure off my atlas turntable, like Malcom Furlow did in his MR narrow guage series back in 1984. I want to build a square frame (not the single arch) and I need to know the height, width and length of the center tower.
Thanks in advance

Glen,
If you have the Feb 1984 MR, you can use the photo on pg. 90 to determine dimensions. The door on the combine in the photo is exactly the same height as the actual model's door.
The vertical timbers are 12" X 12", and are 22' tall. The side timbers are set 6'-6" (to the center of the timber) from the center of the table bridge. I would guess the bridge width at very close to 12'.(the bridge appears to be 4 times the track gauge,of 3')
Hope this helps.
Pete

I'm scratchbuilding one. Very (and I mean very) loosely based on a White Pass & Yukon 60 foot turntable. A nice drawing is in the May / June 2003 issue of the Narrow Gauge And Shortline Gazette.

Here's my progress so far...
