Fun In The Storm! (Non-RR Related)

Well, once ina blue moon, I actually venture into the city on a weekend. This time, I got caught right in the middle of the worst storm to hit since the tornado of '88.

Here, at the very beginning of the storm, I hopped out to take a quick shot of the roadway, and promptly got beaned right in the head with golfball sized hail for my efforts. Note that the bug-deflector thingy has been broken, and the hail dents in the poor 4Runner's hood.

Here's an idea of how quickly the water rose...this was taken about 5 minutes later, less than a block or so away.

After needing 4WD to ford some pretty deep water, as well as over a foot of hail/ice, I finally found myself on high groung. These folks didn't.

I went home with lumps, bruises, dents and completely soaked.

Could have been worse. I guess it's all in the luck of timing. This was the road I'd been planning to use.
