I was told that fastrack does not fit between the sides of a standard lionel girder or tressel bridge....fact or fiction? I want to use combination of both in my layout.

Well it depends on the vintage of your girder bridge. Some of the older ones had less detail and just a metal floor. IIRC they would be wide enough for the Fastrack. The later ones had some support detail which cut into the floor space on the bridge which might make it too narrow. If you are willing to cut a piece of Fastrack, you could trim the slope sides off and use that in your bridge. The girders would hide the fact you trimed it and the track would stay at the same level on or off the bridge.
