Here's the scoop: All SD40-3's rebuilt by VMV at Paducah for Helm (leased to DM&IR) All SD40-3's except 416 and 418 use SD45T-2 bodies. All SD40-3's are 3,000 horsepower. There you go!
But I thought that all SD 40-2s have 3000hp??
You can mainly tell the difference between versions because of the famous "Front Porch", which was famous with crews, but I'm not too sure why they manufactured those so long.
