New here, after years of Z scale layouts, I'm making the jump to a 9x12 HO layout (at least for now, trying to figure out how I can get away with taking more of the basement). My most restrictive locomotive requires min. 24" radius. I'm not planning on making the entire layout accessible to that engine, but what is the effective radius of a #6 turnout? I was planning to use no smaller than #6 switches, will that work with the above restriction or should I go to #8 for the line the big engines will run on?
