De-coupler problem

I have 2 Atlas and 1 Kato engine in which the de-coupling wires have literally fallen out of the coupler. Any suggestions on how to repair this problem so the wires stay in place?

If you can put the "wire" back in, you can put a tiny TINY drop of super glue on it prior to assembly. Be careful to not glue the coupler so that it does not work. Other glues may do just well enough to solve the problem. You can try RTV or white glue. RTV is the sealant used to seal gaskets on cars, and it is also used as household caulking. Another option is to gently crimp the end of the wire with pliers just enough to distort it. The distortion may cause enough friction to hold it in place.

Or you can replace the couplers with the appropriate micro trains version. Your local hobby shop should be able to help you out there.
