Bombardier Transportation are hosting an open weekend at their Crewe workshops in Cheshire, England. I visited yesterday and thought you might like to see some examples of the locos that were present. Sorry about some of the shots but the bright sunshine was not always a help to photography.
John.
First off is a GWR Prairie tank.

An LMS Coronation pacific. This loco hauled the British Royal Train last year when the Queen visited North Wales hence the fancy headboard and the crown above the "Duchess of Sutherland" nameplate.

A Virgin Trains class 57 "Thunderbird" rescue loco. These were converted from old class 47 locos. They are are kept on standby at strategic locations around the rail network to help trains in distress. This one is named "Scott Tracy"........who said the British don't have a sense of humour ? :D
