Does anyone know what happened to this locomotive?( Other than it got wrecked!)
Hi SD 90 , thats some damage.
I will see what I can find out.
Hm, if it was semi I would say that it found out that the bridge was too low for it to pass under.
How that could happen to a train is beyond me....
There's another wreck photo of this unit at http://www.trainweb.org/galt-stn/cproster/locomotive/5900s/cp5921w.htm dated Feb 8, 2000, but no other information.
SD40-2 #5921 was the trailing unit behind SD40-2 #5790 involved in a derailment in Mattawa, Ontario on December 21, 1998.
20 cars carrying general freight were also involved and, while there were no injuries, both units were damaged.
#5790 was repaired and returned to service, however, #5921 was apparently stored, awaiting repair, and for at least the last 1 1/2 years, has been stored awaiting disposal.
