Just go into paper models. (I've built one small one) My son really likes Stargate so I figure I would get a few of those going. I've been building plastic models for almost 40 years and never tried this till recently. I'm really get into it though.

Post some pics of what you have built. Paper is sure cheaper than plastic, and you will find subjects that just don't exist in plastic, which is what realy attracted me to the hobby, that, and the fact that you can learn how to design your own. Welcome aboard! :)

(Make sure you check out the Rules and Policies! :) )

Welcome aboard. Many of us started with plastic models. I myself go back to the days of Aurora models. If you built dioramas and enhanced your models with details, then you will fit right in. Some of my earlier scratch build models were made from sheet styrene, which fits right in with using paper. We are very strong in the Sci-fi department but the other subjects are also well taken care of. After you have browsed the forum, you will see that paper is a challenging medium but enjoyable. So take your shoes off, sit a spell and enjoy what the forum has to offer. See you around the forum.

I started 2 new projects this weekend alone lol. I'm into space models for now. Growing up I built lots of cars (Nascars was a hobby for years then I moved a couple of times and can't find them :() I'm looking forward to this "new" hobby. My biggest issue are models with no instructions. I'm still trying to figure some of this stuff out. But my goal is to get my 12 year old into this so he has something to do during his summer break. I'm also looking forward to designing my own as well.

Hello and welcome to the forum. There are many members who are into SCI-FI and especially Stargate. There are a few in the DOWNLOAD section. There are also a few sites that host Stargate models. Here are a few:

Hopefully these will keep you and your son busy for a day or two.

There are many designers here that are more then willing to give you advice, tips, and pointers. So do not be afraid to ask for help.
I wish you the best of luck with it.

As Zathros said, please post any work that you have already done. We would like to see it.

Once again, welcome aboard, and I hope that you enjoy yourself here.

I look forward to seeing your work soon.
