Mikey, don't worry; nothing around us.

It's on County Line Road in Upper Southampton Township. It is a couple of miles from the Willow Grove Interchange.

Problem is the volume of traffic. The other roads in the area also have a lot of traffic. Putting a detour over them could create gridlock. Of course doing the bridge in half-widths could create gridlock on County Line Road which would eventually migrate onto the other roads in the area, thus gridlocking them. So we are damned if we do, damned if we don't. It may come down to which way can be done faster.

Tomorrow I will be looking at another bridge. This one north of Quakertown. We are redecking it, and we should be able to detour it. The truck detour is going to be ugly; probably about 25 miles.

The nearest we get to grits in UK are Staffordshire Oat Cakes [grits are barley or wheat], they have the flavour of a door mat and need drowning in butter and jam, syrup or honey to make them in the tiniest bit palatable.

Ewwww truck Detours are not fun at all!!! :( :( Someone always has "Issues" :( :( :(

As far as the other detour.. Now don't go spreading around that i know what I'm doing... but.....

When they were building the Blue Route (when you were still in school :D ) they had to detour the 2 lanes of Mac Dade Blvd. What they did was they got 2 of those Huge 25 MPH signs.. stuck them at each end of the "detour" ...Bullens lane... Then put a Police car randonly along the road.. most every day...

What happened was that most people adhered to the 25 - 30 MPH and mostly it went as expected.. They also took down a Stop sign on a "T" road that ended at Bullens Lane and made it one way "Away" from the detour, this left people with an "out" if anything happened..

This really worked well for the 3 weeks it took to build the bridge over Mc Dade Blvd....

Have fun!! I know how screwed up these things can be.... :( :( :(

Morning all. Grits are made from corn but not like popcorn. It is more of a cereal. Cooked in water and they swell into a paste like cereal. Best with gravy and next would be butter. Salt and pepper is needed if butter is used.

Getting ready for a early meeting. Later

Grits are made of coarsely ground corn. It's similar to polenta or farina. In my family grits are known as sofkee (Native American name).

    Good morning.

It's a pleasant 73F and clear. The high is expected to be around the mid 90's and it will be partly cloudy.

Yesterday I received a little item that has given me more flexibility in communicating with people. I got a MagicJack. I just plug it into any USB port (I only have about 16 of them), plug a regular corded phone into it and I have free local and long distance calling. That's free both ways. Only thing is, I only have phone service when my computer is online. I can live with that.

    Good morning folks

It is 74 F and sticky right now. High will be 83 F.

I just got home from taking my daughter to the orthodontist. She got the last of her braces out and now has a retainer. In a few moments I am out the door and on my way to Quakertown to look at another bridge project.

    No modeling last night.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning everyone. Hope all is going well. Sorry I have been away for some time now. Issues with work have kept me on the busy side. Far too many posts to go back to read, so I will just let y'all know I pray for good health for each of you and plenty of train time....someone has to get some in. I will try to check in from time to time.
    God Bless,

    Hey all:wave:

Not much happening on the model railroading front, just some weathering experimentation on two hi-cube boxcars and preping a badly scratched up Atheran coach for stripping.
I'm going to Cedar Point before school lets in again, so i'll be gone for a few days in the future, so just an FYI:thumb: Too bad I gotta go back to school before the month is over:cry:, summer break is too short, y'know?

    Good morning.

It's 74 and clear. The high today will be in the mid 90's and it will be mostly cloudy. There's a small chance for rain this afternoon.

Yesterday was dominated by work on the layout. Some scenery here, a repair there, that sort of thing. One thing that had to be addressed was a SPST toggle switch that was in a bad location. If I had to lean across the layout there was a good chance the switch would be broken, and several times it was. I replaced it with a half inch diameter push-on/push-off switch which seems to be working out rather well. It's purpose is to turn track #2 in the maintenance shop on and off.

    Good morning folks

It was 68 F with some fog on the way into work this morning. High today is supposed to be 82 with heavy rain. I wonder what that will do to football practice tonight. We had a thunderstorm roll through last night beginning at the end of my son’s football practice. It was a lot of lightening and thunder but not much rain.

No modeling last night. I finished doing a couple of projects around the house.

We have a scouting event this weekend. We are going to a local farm to pick some fruit. The rest of the weekend is wide open. Maybe I will get some modeling in. Of course first I need to decide on which project to start on ext.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good evening, busy day, had CT scan at 9am, breakfest with my train friend, a trip to our favorite store and then to Woodward ave. to see part of the car cruise that is tomorrow. It gets bigger every year and now some are here a week early and make it a vacation. They do not just park and show they drive Woodward from Detroits eight mile rd. to Pontiac Mi.quite a show for car nuts. TTFN S.J.

    Good evening,

Dennis, Welcome back to the world of trains. :thumb: BTW, I am now working on doll house #4. This one is a log cabin. Only one more to go after this. :yep:

Sounds like they will be keeping you busy for a while, that's great.

Nice looking shay & tools. I assume that it is HO.

CNWman, Enjoy yourself at Cedar Point & have a great school year.

John Baker, On the grits subject. They also come in white and yellow, as well as instant and regular. If you ever get a chance to try them, be sure to use LOTS of butter and salt and pepper. That makes them quite good.

I spent most of the day installing the knobs on my daughters new kitchen cabinets. SIL installed the cabinets and asked me to do the knobs. He did a real good job on the cabinets.

A great weekend to all! :thumb:
