Welcome back Jeffrey, you were missed.

Weather here was clear and cold today with lots of Wind.

Roy, glad to hear you didn't get on a long case.

Wife's car is in the garage. Yesterday it developed a problem with erratic operation of the electical system while driving. Had it hauled to the garage as I didn't want it to quit and let me setting along the highway. Checked all the obvious things and came up empty, will let the pros figure it out. Probably some computer thingy.

Welcome back Jeffrey - glad you are on the mend! Doug, hope you are feeling better as well. Just got home after working then racing to relieve my wife and daughter to go do something or other (??) while I was watching basketball practice and then racing across town to get to a scout meeting. So then on the way home I asked if he had fun - nope, it was boring.... Ah - fatherhood!wall1wall1wall1

Good luck on the computer thingy, John - electrical problems can be tricky for them to find going by our history with cars.

Glad to see you back Jeffrey, I really like seeing your pictures first thing in the morning !! Hope you have a speedy and full recovery.

Not much to post about, spent a couple of hours last night working on installing a lighting kit in a dummy. So far it is a little disputable about who is the dummy. I honestly believe that the wrong pickup roller is in the kit. Talking to MTH via email, to untangle.

Havn't run 1 wire yet. Trying to get control panel configuration resolved. Would like to wire from a object to the switch or control panel in one step. By the time get home, just not much time, maybe an hour or 2. Keep plugging away at it, it will all fall into place eventually.

Well let's see John, for sure its a computer related issue or a sensor. Probably end up 3 or 4 visits if your luck is anything like mine on car repairs.

Roy, Do they have many jurys down there? Its all over the news here about the guy in Pasadena TX, blowing those two guys away while he was talking to the police on 911. (He called 911 to report a robbery at a neighbors house, and told the police if the robbers tried to leave before they arrived he would stop them with his shot-gun. HE DID)

Be carefull while you are down there Dennis!

    Morning to All,
Put on a fresh pot and washed out all of the grime and grounds at the bottom of the pot. Been super busy at work. Monday was interviews for Building Supervisor. Hope they get someone hired this week. We have to do background checks, reference checks, etc. before we hire. It is a pain but in today's society it is a must. Yesterday I ran around like crazy to two meetings, one in Hagerstown, MD in the PM. Did not get home until late. Got to get going. I'll check in and catch up on all of the posts later.

    Take care,

Hopefully BF won't be in picture, and she'll have a great time, possibly with Mom as shaperone???

Worked on Christmas layout with 3-yo, cut down foam some more with saw for trimming door frames when adding flooring. 3-yo was marking lines, and cleaning up foam 'mess'. Door frame saw has a flat surface, and the blade stiffener is offset so you can get a fine straight cut. Played with saw on scrap can get the look of wood formed concrete on the foam edge if you cut it just right. May try playing with dremel to simulate stone today, and start on girder ring around tree.

  7. Good Morning............
It's a cold and sunny 24 degrees. Going up to 50 today with maybe some sunshine.
Today I am going to pick up groceries. Prices have dropped for food, in this area. Gas is still high.
    No train time today.
    Everybody have a nice day,

Morning all. Sunny and chilly. Was really warm yesterday and cold today. Seems to bounce up and down. Sure is good to get a whiff of fresh air over here. Another one has a bad odor this AM. Some know what I mean. :curse: Hope to work upstairs today as soon as I get by Town Hall. Think I will have waffles for breakfast today. :thumb: Don, I bought some very small LEDs for trains. I use them to light dummies and they work great. Last MTH dummy I put lights and smoke in, I got the right pickup "kit" from MTH. Worked great and was easy to install. Putting a Lionel smoke unit in a MTH engine now. Got it for a steal on an auction. It was conventional. Pulled the motors and reversing board out. Running it as a dummy. May get an Electric RR TMCC kit and put in it. Do, just "pop" the motors back in. How far are you from Bakersfield. My buddy on Town Board and fishing partner's Granddaughter has graduated from a school here in Raleigh. It is a school on movie production and animation. She's a great artist and has made some animated films. She is moving there and going to work for NICK.
    Got to get busy. Later

PS: Jeffrey, glad to see you back. Missed you.

'Morning! The coffee sure is good this AM! I'm having a cup with a piece of apple cake my assistant made - good stuff!

Cold and sunny this morning. I had to scrape some ice off my truck's windshield this morning. Should warm up into the upper 60's today. Another cold front coming through tomorrow, but a dry one - no rain predicted.

Jeffrey - nice photo! Looks like an early morning shot with the lights on in the tower and the rising sun reflecting on the store windows.

    Have a good day, all!

Good morning from a grey and cold Chicago where I am feeling better and have a full day of meetings. Boy, I enjoyed watching a few old train 'home movies' on YouTube when I got back from my myriad of meetings last evening. Wish I could've ridden something like the Cinnicinatian in its prime.

That's a nice photo of the Chessie unit - don't know anything about it though - and a beautiful Trainmaster. Also love the HO layout photos - 27 days until Thomas the Tank Engine arrives...

Don't want to bring my problem here, but here it is:

Now if the picture came out right, the pickup roller is too long. The picture is of the power unit, and the dummy roller. The truck for the dummy of course is the same truck as the power unit. When the roller is in there is not enough room for the roller to compress in the truck. I've tried every combination I can thingk of. But it still stands very high. IMO I think this truck was newly designed for this engine, and the kit is a standard six wheel kit. I am in touch with MTH, and should find out today what they say.
BTW with ALL the bashing of the mfgr'rs regarding service and quality. I find the service verry good! Always responsive, and helpful. As to the quality pooh-pooh happens. Last year at this time I had my "fake" BB in for service this year the BIG "Phantom" BB.

Bakersfield is about 70/80 miles north. Weather there is usually HOT, and dry. Major cowboy town. Not a lot for a young person. But, I'm not hooked into the night life there either.

Don, you're right on all "accounts". Too long. Service from MTH staff has always been great when I called for parts. Call back and they will get it right. Lady got the "guys" to get her what I needed to light a dummy. Came in a ziplock bag. Went right in. Got pickup with wire attached, insulator for bolt, bolt and nut and seems a like an insulator for the entire pickup between the truck and that assembly.

    Afternoon all!

Call from Riders Hobby...curve and straight Superstreets is in. It was ordered Monday...Still waiting for curve to straight transitions. Probably on a slow boat.

Cholesterol tests back. High. Put me on 20mg Lovastatin. Read drug explanations online, says to stay away from eating fatty foods like, and I quote, "meat". Are they kidding?

Kurt, I was on Lipator and Zetia but switched to Valtorin [both in one]. My bad cholesterol is 65. Yes!!!! They are praising me and telling me to continue what I am doing. Eating basicly anything I want. Wel, not going to the extreme. I eat stak once a week. Sausage once a week. Believe it or not, grits does help as long as you don't add too much "topping" [butter, I use soft spread]. Turkey this and turkey that is for the birds. I do not eat a lot of fried foods. I bake everything and french fries. Fish is good for you. Take a fish oil tablet every day if you can stand the taste. Some freeze them and that way they desolve farther down the "line" and your breath doesn't smell like fish.

    Time to feed the deer.

Got a reply from MTH today, regarding my lighting upgrade kit. Yep, sure enough wrong rollers. So they want me to send them back, and they will send the correct ones. Actually, I am a little disappointed that they require me to pay the return postage. Since the kit I ordered was the kit identified on the same page in the same catalog as the engine is listed. Doesn't really seem it is my responsibility. What can you do.? (Once I get it resolved probably a letter to the powers.)

Yes Don, their mistake but they want you to pay. Both companies are that way. Atlas seems to be more "forgiving".
