I think somebody said one time that some of the early Thomas locomotives had loose power pickups or something? I'm sorry, I don't have the answer for you. If everything looks tight and "normal" and it doesn't run right, I'd ask to exchange it at this point - don't open it up. If you feel they won't do that, then I'm sure there is a Lionel service station near you and you can get it fixed, but might cost a few $$$. Since it's new and won't run out of the box, if they won't exchange it, call Lionel direct (number is on their website) and see if they will let you mail it in for repair or to be replaced - they have always been very helpful to me!

TomPM - I had that easy dcc rig from Bachmann during my brief try with HO scale before I switched to O gauge. I think I might have had that same diesel locomotive? Can't remember now, I gave it away to a guy for his son to play with, but I did keep the controller and stuff in case I do some On30 later for a mine or logging operation. It is very easy to use and I had a conventional loco and a DCC loco running all around the floor on that ez track in about an hour knowing absolutely nothing about it when I started.

Sounds like everyone had a great Holiday. As Chief said, Grits! Er, no, I meant, God Bless us Everyone!

Ozzy,I run all scale now too. Well, most of the time. But I still get out my Post War engines amd only one is scale. Better hold on to them and you will be glad you did.

Reclinerizing is through. Now into the bed.

Sanka: Welcome! Sorry I can't help with Thomas.

Don: Let me know how you like the Cussler book. I've read both Seahunters, but have not read his fiction. I recommend both Sea Hunters books.

Found a Lionel Fastrack crossing, and a PRR Burro Crane under the tree! The crossing works great with the Christmas layout, and is actually a very cool accessory.

Dinner with friends, and too much food, and back home to spend the evening on the phone with relatives.

FiL and his bride in today from Minnesota for a visit.

  4. Good Morning.............
It is a cold 30 degrees. Going up to 50 today, with some sunshine, later.
Today is a busy day. Errands to run and some work around the house. Maybe relax, later. All the gifts are gone and everyone is happy.
    Time for breakfast.
    Everyone have a nice day,

Good Morning All from NE Ohio
Where the temp is 27 deg with Blue Clear Skies and heavy frost.

Sounds like all had a great Christmas Day including me.

John – glad to hear they liked the doll houses, they look great.

Chief – we had turkey too, going back today for seconds

RT and Ozzy – O scale I the US is 48:1 and in Europe it is 43.5:1 (HO is 87:1, which is half of O gauge, so 87/2 = 43.5) Makes you wonder who got it right or wrong. I think it is like when Lionel said they have Standard gauge track.

Now with most of the old diecast companies being in Europe (England like Corgi) they made cars 1/43 to match O gauge trains. It really hard to tell if the car is scale unless you check the original mfg wheel base dimension and then check the model and do the math.

MTH autos are made by SunStar. These are the same ones that you have. Now MTH uses Yat-Ming. These cars are much closer to scale at a fair price and nice detail.

Here is a new fire truck that I got for Christmas made by Yat-Ming.

Good morning from foggy and cold central Alabama.

Glad to read that you all had an enjoyable Christmas. Ozzy, praying that you get good news soon. Waiting is often the hardest part.

Back in the office today - half days for the rest of the week. Should be very quiet, outside of some hospital visits. A crew is putting new carpet in the hallway outside of the offices - a good time to do it with few activities going on.

Dennis - thanks for the congrats re: Prattville's football team. They're ranked No. 2 in the nation by USA Today. Final poll comes out sometime today, but I don't expect them to move up as the No. 1 team (from Miami, FL) also won their state championship. Proud of our team - 30 straight wins and haven't lost a regular season game in five years. Haven't lost a home game since 1999.

I'll go home after lunch, watch the Bourne Identity (again) and run some trains. Later!

Morning. Slept late. :thumb: Breakfast and watched TV. Lazy day. Raining [thank the Lord] and cold. Train time as soon as I get a shower. [yes, lazy] Hope all have a good day. Dr. John, I got the whole Bourne series. Love those. Also got The Shooter which everyone says is just as good.

home for lunch here, i think us o-scalers should post about the whole 1:43, 1:48, 1:50 thing in the o scale forum, and when it all gets figured out what is what them pin it to the top so others that are unsure can see it.
  11. Good Afternoon....
    Chief.....You are a " sleepy-head ". Don't blame ya.
RT.... How is your porch ?
Tom.... That's a great looking fire truck.
Dr. John.... I enjoy the Bourne movies too. want to see the newest one.
    Time for a nap....:thumb:

Tom, that is one beautiful fire truck - I am afraid I will never see that kind of detail in N gauge!
Christmas is over, so I guess I have no more excuses for not getting back to work on the layout. Have a few more buildings that need to be constructed, too, so it looks like it will be a fun week.

Hi all, Hope everyone had a good time over the Holiday.

Don, I also got Clive Cussler's Chase for Xmas. I also recommend Night Probe, another one of Cussler's novels that features a locomotive.

My good lady also got me some 060 Fastrack and 2 072 switches, along with the 2007 holiday boxcar.

Lad likes his Hogwarts set, we have it running round the tree. But the attraction of his new Xbox 360 is greater at the moment.

Brutus, We too have been to GAME today for the lad to spend his gift cards.. The place was manic!

Jess, When I was in China, we had a guy who carved an entire verse of scripture on a goldfish need a magnifying glass to read it, but it is there and perfect letters. I say this that you may one day find fine detail cars for N or even Z gauge.

Busy day as one guy is on vacation so I had to come in and do a case even though I am on call. Hope it will be calm the rest of the day. Will bring the family out for dinner and do some shopping.

Hope y'all have a great rest of the week,
    God Bless,
  15. Chuck...After getting another lump of coal for Christmas this year I have sent a letter to Santa changing my reference for naughty and nice from the Chief to you. Also, next year I am going to put on my want list, gift certificates from the train stores in Wheeling.

Speaking of movies, Ocean's 13 is really good and different from the others. Ratoullie is good, too. :thumb:

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. I had diligently ordered the Disappearing Hobo Car for my daughter's Polar Express in August. It had not arrived. On Christmas Eve I went to the LHS to purchase some track and lo and behold, there was the car!!! Cancelled the order and she was given the car for Christmas. She has all the Polar Express pieces except for the new tender. Is that worth getting? :?::?::?::?::?:

Dr. John...I believe Prattville needs to play a few teams from Ohio and stop playing those pansie teams from Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, etc. A game in late November would be fun with the snow and rain flying through the air.

John... I forgot to compliement you on the outstanding doll houses. They look stunning. :thumb:

    Tom...Great fire truck.

Just back from Ryders. Returned the Buro Crane. Grinding, and wouldn't go into reverse.

Heard that Lionel is in the process of relocating Administration to Chicago, and Manufacturing to Seattle. Can anyone confirm?

  20. Buckeye.....That's a shame about the lump of coal. I will give you good references with Santa. He probably had a problem understanding Chief, with that Southern drawl.

Good idea...Gift certificates from Wheeling. We could take a day and go have an " adventure ". I'll put that on MY list too.
