i don't think you could go wrong... they come in every length. i would go with some 3foot wide pipe loads, 25 foot long? for some main water lines? or you could go foot long by 25 foot.. maybe 30? there isn't any wrong size for pipes... you can get them in every size possible

Actually they don't unless you want to pay custom fabrication charges.

In my experience, I've always speced 20' sections.

Cast/Ductile Iron come in 10 and 20 foot lengths as standard in my experience...
