Ummmm WOW!!! Canon has some great talent working for them.
Wow! Some very cool models!
Maybe the paper modeling community needs to be more closely involved with the inkjet printer companies.
I sometimes wonder if our hobby has a disadvantage in that, being so new, there are no "big players" - centers of money or expertise to help create professional associations, set standards, fund efforts to promote the hobby and the like. There isn't much in the way of "industry leaders" in the card modeling industry to take the lead on such efforts.
Clearly it is not lost on printer manufacturers like Canon that they naturally stand to benefit from an increase in the popularity of card modeling - our hobby uses their product, and shows off its capabilities.
Maybe we should be reaching out to business that are natural allies, and talking to them about sponsoring shows, funding other events or activites that promote the hobby, or allowing us access to some of their corporate resources.
For instance, think of how valuable it would be if Canon provided one of its in-house legal counsel to participate in a thread here to discuss legal issues involved with card modeling. At another card modeling site, there was a discussion about the lack of a magazine promoting card modeling - a corporate sponsor could help make something like a professional-caliber ezine happen. Maybe printer or paper companies would be interested in sponsoring card model designer conventions?
Might be some possibilities there.
Art Decko ... I agree with this idea.
There are some 'professionals' creating content FOR these companies.
Thanks for alerting us!
