The C420 (Century 420) was built by Alco in the 1960s.

Its smaller prime mover as compared to the C424 and C425 made its whole long hood shorter. This moved the cab back, and this in turn gave the C420 the feature that distinguished it from the other Centuries: its long nose.

    C420s have many detail variations.

My local C420s! http://alcoworld.railfan.net/lrw.htm I'm a bit partial to them as I've watched them from time to time from my bicycle :) Maybe I'll get out their way again soon and take some of my own pictures.
