Here's a simple destination for some loads...
The tractors were being unloaded from the flat car onto a truck trailer.
A modern team track..AKA Transloading Facility.
a few more pics of what was at the dock today
Do they unload covered hoppers there as well?
Gary,Please keep these great industry pictures coming!:thumb:
The only thing I have ever seen them unloading there is tractors and tires. Never saw any covered hoppers there. Both times that I took pictures of the tractors, there were open hoppers sitting on the second siding. I don't think they unloaded anything from them there, it may just be a convenient place to hold empties.
The reason I ask there appears to be grain or wheat spillage by the track.
I see what you mean. I'll have to go check that out.
Brakie, I checked it out. It is a pile of gravel, the same as can be seen further down the track. Looks to me like they had some left over and dumped it on the tracks for extra ballast.
Ok.. Thanks a lot! That can be another detail added to our team tracks..:thumb:
I have a VA appt on the 30th in Fargo. I'll see how close I can get to the Case IH factory there and the rail head, I know that they load rail cars with tractors and loaders there on the west side of the plant.
If I can get good pictures I'll add them here.
OT, I'd like to see that if you can get some good shots.
The First Coast Rwy. has a spur unloading pulpwood which is done every so often.
