I am proud to present my design of the Beechcraft Starship. The kit in 1:33
scale can be downloaded for free at:

The Beechcraft Starship introduced a number of innovative concepts when it
was designed and produced resulting in a technologically advanced and
extremely beautiful aircraft. But it turned out a commercial failure: Of 53
built only very little were actually sold to customers and only four remain
airworthy today and the airframe it was designed to replace, the King Air,
    is still going strong.

The model can be built in various degrees of detail (with or without cockpit
and cabin interior) and configurations (flaps retracted/extended, canards
    in cruise/landing configuration).

Instructions are available in german only, and due to the number of possible
variations are quite extensive. So be prepared to Babelfish or do some
thinking of your own if you don't read german.

You can find a thread on the design of the model that also has a few lousy
pictures of an equally lousy build.

I am grateful to everyone who helped me designing and test-building and
has provided reference material. Special thanks go to Chad Slattery for
giving permission to use his breathtaking photo of NC-51.

Thanks Marian, for all your hard work and generosity, once more!

What a gorgeous plane and model! I have never heard of this one nor seen it before but it sure is beautiful!

I'm looking forward to building this one!

Awesome model! I can't wait to get started on this one! I actually flew in one of these back in the late 80's. I had an uncle who worked for Hawthorne in Florida at the time. I also got a cool jacket with a small embroidered picture of the plane on the front. I passed it on to my brother years ago- who knows what happened to the jacket since!
Thanks for putting this one out!

Now I will have to build this one, I have seen one of these upclose during an airshow.

Just downloaded the kit, and took a quick look at the kit, did you use Surfmaster from Doctor Zarkov to design this kit? if so, i can see the influences

    Congratulations on a killer kit

I never got to see one up close, but I did have the pleasure of seeing one fly over on a semi-regular basis, back in 1996. I used to work at a location under the approach path to the local airport, so I saw many interesting aircraft. (my first view of an F-4 was a shock, I'd never heard a noise like that before!)

Thanks for the Starship, Marian! Another subject I can take off of my own design list. A really beautiful plane, too bad what happened to them.

There used to be a Beech Areospace facility here and a Starship would land at the local airport pretty regularly. I always stopped and watched this baby come in and take off. It has a very unique sound to go with it's looks. I hate they sold off the place.............. I miss seeing this plane!

This is much appreciated............ and since I lucked up and found your thread on the other site.......... I saw NO lousy pictures and certainly NO lousy build! She is as beautiful as the real one!

    Thanks again!

    Hey John,

You still got the link to the build? I'm imagining this in 1/144....

No, It has been done in Rhino. But I suspect the same principles apply.

That is one beautiful looking model! I'm glad someone made a model of it especially the after the way Beech bought all of them back and scrapped them. If you ever read the story of what happened (I read it in an issue of Smithsonian Air and Space) it's really sad.
