Hi, everyone, it's been a long time since I was last here.. I tend to be more of a lurker. I have a couple of questions as I'm looking for some BSG models.

What models are available for the Galactica?. Both for the TOS and New series. Is there a large-scale TOS Galactica that is the same size as the big New Galactica?

The only TOS Galactica I know of is the one by Gearz which is available at JLeslie's site. It's designed to be about 18 inches when completed, so it would go with the smaller New Galactica available in the downloads here.

Jaybats also has a new Galactica on his site. His site is here

    Have fun,

Thanks for the info! I couldn't remember what was available for these ships, hence my initial question...

I recently grabbed - more correctly, "re-grabbed" - the Gearz Galactica owing to a recent failure of my archive drive and I hadn't saved many of my files to disc.

Also tracked down the Jaybats site (my old system had all my links, etc including the info for THIS site) on it and I only recently got around to get back online! Oh yes, I did get the Jaybat Galactica again!

I was mostly wondering if there was a 3 foot TOS Galactica- however, it looks like I got that mixed up with the 3 foot New Galactica. I'm swamped with other pressing plastic projects so getting to back to the paper side of things will be awhile yet. On the paper side of things, half of my printed materials are missing, files gone due to the drive crash so I can't reprint very much and my post count simply isn't high enough to be granted access to the downloads section!

There is no larger size TOS Galactica available...

    Sort of.

Several years ago, in a moment of insanity, I decided to build Gearz' TOS Galactica at 200% the normal size... and make it as close to "studio accurate" as was possible. Well, the "studio accurate" is a loose term...

Putting the model at just over four feet long and two feet wide.

No, it's not done yet. 80% and holding... I'm waiting for my fibre optic cabling to arrive.

There's a thread or two here detailing my insanity. I'm not recommending you follow in my footsteps. Unless you have lots of time, money and sanity to spend.

Heh! Well, most of my insanities ARE governed by $$ availability... so an uber-sized Galactica won't be in my short to mid-range plans. ;)

I believe the thread you mentioned recently returned to the forefront more or less.. I've been perusing parts of it (had a buuuusy day today....) and I found what I did read quite informative! I don't think I'll be trying something like that anytime soon.

However... the 3-foot New Galactica - MAYBE! LOL!

Nothing's better than the TOS model, in my opinion. When I was younger, these films were great. Even the Cylon space ships are very exciting.

Jaybat is a member on this forum. Look for his in the "Members List" and send him a PM and request the models that you want from him directly.

Just to let everyone know, I just checked Jaybats website and it is running once again. For those of you who want his BSG models, you should not have any trouble now.

I would also like to see a TOS Cylon Basestar. I had the original Monogram plastic kit, but I had to sell it.

If you should decide to build the big one, check here for detail references, And how about the TOS studio scale Cylon base star, Keep browsing the site for reference pics and there are more Battle Stars at studio scale. As well as Vipers, ragtag fleet and TOS and new Cylon Raiders. This a scratch builders site full of interesting reference materials that can be used for paper modeling.

I made a start last year, but my step of the Star-fighter off Last Exile to a Big Basestar is a big one.
So far so good, but creating a frame to support it all well....wall1.
I'm planning in between how to buid this one, in the meanwhile I'm also building the Gemini Freighter (Almost done) and together with my daughters the Dead Man's Chest and the Cursed Treasure of Cortez.
After that I'll go for Captain Future's Comet, and then this will be on the bench!
