We just had a "name the product" contest at work and the winning entry (not from me) made me think of you, Shamus. It was BADGR, a new acronym for "Beamsteering Anti-jam Digital GPS Receiver".

I know some of the modern diesels have GPS on board, maybe this one was designed for Shays? (I think it's actually for a cruise missile.)

:D :D :D :D

Bill, I can see it now. Shamus' Shays with the cruise missile gas turbines fitted! 15% grades? ... No problem!:D . Of course Shamus would also NEED the GPS to find out where the train lands after it fails to level out at the top of such grades! :D :D .

On the other hand, A shay at 120mph simply isn't prototypical:eek: .

I thought his Shays would need GPS just in case they got lost amongst all those wonderful trees they wander through.

BTW to all: I work on GPS for a living - military applications, not trains, but the concepts are the same, so this is all kind of an inside joke to me.
