Atlas Gold or Proto 2000?

I am looking at buying an HO engine, Proto 2000 or Atlas Gold. Any opinions on these? Thanks.

Yeah,they're both great brands!You usually can find better deals on the Proto2000's,but they're both really nice regardless.

Agreed, my Atlas's are truely AMAZING!!! I dont have any Proto 2000's but I want to try them out too, from what I here there up there with KATO, ATLAS, and Athearn Genius

I don't have any Atlas Gold engines, but I do have a Silver which is absolutely one of my favorite engines. I also have quite a few Proto 2000 engines. I don't think you could go wrong with either, although I think I would prefer the Atlas if given the choice. They're both powerful, heavy and full of detail. I think the Atlas is slightly quieter, though.
