Athern SD 70 walkway and rails

New here so I will be brief.
I purchased a Atherns Genesis SD 70 Mac at the local hobby store.
Hand rails were not applied and I soon found out why.
After several attempts I managed to not only destroy the rails but also
the walkway plate! I feel somewhat stupid:eek:ops:

Now, I have read that some mfg make steel rails but what about the plate?

I am willing to try again.

Any thoughts from the experts!

Let someone else do it?

Thanks

Brakie got you covered on the walkway treads..

As far as replacement handrails go, you can do one of two things:

1. Contact Athearn and have them send you replacement plastic handrails (easiest thing to do), or

2. Bend your own handrails out of either .015" steel or .015" brass wire, and solder them to Smokey Valley's SD70 cast brass stanchion set. (to solder steel, you will need silver-bearing solder with no rosin. To solder brass, regular rosin-core solder will do). While this is moderately difficult to do, if you do it right you end up with very nice looking handrails.

Good luck!

I knew someone here would have the
answer.

Will reply with results. I do believe I am
going to make my own!

Wish me luck! I'll need it!
