How long does AMI roadbed stay sticky after you place the track on it?

does it need immediate (within a day or two) ballasting, or can it go some time without ballast?

If the 'sticky' goes away after some exposed time, is there any way to bring it back?

Once the track is on, if you did it with enough pressure it will stay forever. The exposed road bed will "catch or trap" airborne dust etc. and will not be "sticky" after awhile (how long depends on your particular enviroment). If this has happend you can't really bring it back so apply your ballast then apply the white glue/water mixture like you would on other types of roadbed.

so the best idea is to place the track on the roadbed and IMMEDIATELY place the ballast on while the roadbed is still sticky.
