Accurate height for Crossing signals?

Does anybody know? I ordered some that were fairly cheap that I had intended on making functioal but they look MAMOTH to me. I think in scale they would be almost 20' tall. Is that the correct size? I may be able to chop em down a few scale feet but not much more.

Who make's the one's you are buying? I can't remember who but there is one company that sell's true scale signals made of brass with LED's that are super nice and arn't to harsh on the pocket book unless you go with operational gate arms.

These are from a Life Like crossing set. I figured I could wire in a couple of flashing LEDs and make the gates operational using a tortise switch motor all connected to optical sensors. They just kinda seem to big. I'm going to go check out some prototypes today and snap some pics.

I checked out two sets today....forgot the cam though ..... they look around 15' tall so I suppose I can make these work.
