Cool layout trainNut.
Wow, I haven't seen this thread for a while...
First, I created the depression and coated it with Wall Joint compound. Next, I painted it various earth tone colors using darker colors where the water was to be deeper. After that, I placed all kinds of dirt and rocks and wood stuff at the bottom and glued it down just like you'd find at the bottom of a real pond. Once that had all dried, I poured in a thin layer of Woodland Scenics realistic water and let it dry. I repeated this step several times until I had the desired depth. Oh, forgot to mention that I put a couple drops of blue food coloring into the WS realistic water bottle to give it a little color. It's very vivid at first but fades over time. The final step which I never got to would have been to come back and add surface ripples with Woodland Scenics water effects and then paint the highlights with white.
thanks i will keep it in mind once i,m finish with my chritmas layout i will post it.
